My family and I dined at Whitman’s New York a couple of weeks ago, and I wanted to share my experience with you all. We had an early dinner in their cozy outdoor seating area, which had tables for four separate parties and was partially enclosed. Just 20 minutes into our meal, we felt very grateful for the canopy overhead because it started pouring!
For our drinks, we ordered the Leaves of Grass and Body Electric cocktails. The Body Electric cocktail is an Aperol spritz with a sweet slice of orange, and this was definitely my favorite drink of the two. It wasn’t too sweet and paired really well with the rest of the savory meal. Leaves of Grass is a muddled basil lemonade topped with vodka; you’ll love this if you like basil.
For our appetizer and side, we ordered the local pickles and sweet potato fries. The pickles were salty and crunchy, and the sweet potato fries were absolutely to die for! I loved how crunchy, sweet, and savory they were. These were the best surprise of the meal.
Finally, we ordered the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Burger and the Hound Burger for our entrees. The Hound is made with an applewood smoked bacon-infused patty, arugula, smoked gruyere, and potato crips on a potato bun. One of my family members has a gluten-free allergy so we ordered it on a gluten-free bun, and the burger was just as delicious.
The Bacon, Egg & Cheese is made with a beef short rib burger, applewood smoked bacon, egg, and American cheese on a potato bun. I’m not kidding you when I say this might just be the best breakfast-style burger I’ve ever had – it was that good! It was juicy, savory, yumminess on a plate.
Overall, we loved our experience at Whitman’s Hudson Yards. This meal lifted our spirits and satisfied our hunger on a very rainy, gloomy day. We also appreciated that our server still came to check on us regularly throughout the meal in spite of the rain. I’d recommend dining here for your next casual lunch or dinner in the city!

A bacon and egg cheeseburger sounds amazing (and I’m vegetarian, haha)! Whitman’s looks like it has some seriously delicious food and flavours going on — I will have to visit one day!
